What's new?
Having failed to sell my 6x6 on ebay and decided that I actually want to keep it (my kids were in tears when I told them I was selling) the decision was made to spend more money on it! So .......

RADIATOR UPGRADE: I am having a batch of extra wide ally radiators made (mine is being made as a prototype) with a drain point, at least twice the cooling of the standard 2" version including a rear mounted 16" suction fan from Kenlowe and a cowling.  The system then ought to be run at higher pressure with 50% antifreeze which massively increases cooling efficiency. Cost will be £450 for the radiator, £130 for the fan with an electronic controller and mounting kit plus shipping worldwide.

Complete kit with radiator, fan and controller is £600 plus vat and shipping unless you are part of a 'batch production'

I have 6 takers so far but if we got 10 made the price will drop. email me if you're interested

NEW ENGINE: This is the reason for needing a new radiator. I have sent my spare engine to a specialist who dismantled it, declared it a good engine but detuned to tractor levels and possibly only making 105BHP/150lbsft compared with the claimed 125/165 of the commercial C303 (not TGB).  Rebuilt to standard passenger car standards (and unleaded ready) it should make 145BHP/180lbsft with the same lovely torque characteristics.  Cost? About £1,800 without any fitting problems. Excellent!

King Pin Conversion: Now Volvo don't sell the lower steering King Pin bearings, I've got a batch of conversion kits to take Landrover bearings.  Look here for more info

Why Volvos?

The Volvo C-series off road vehicles are gaining a dedicated following in the UK because of their immense capability, comfort, practicality and relatively low price compared to Landrover 101FCs and Pinzgauers.  As a driving experience they are smooth, relatively civilised and great fun and make excellent go-anywhere campers and work trucks.  Parts availability  is good through Volvo Truck and Bus, however it can be cheaper to look for second hand parts from people like me or through the C3-series club which will be able to keep everyone in touch.

My TGB13 (C304 military) is a slightly tatty example that gets heavily abused off road and is in a constant process of being 'adapted' for proper off-roading.  Keep up with developments here. Mechanically they are ultra reliable but have a few foibles.  There is a dedicated following worldwide and several sites are a font of information. These sites can be found on the links page.  There are also links to suppliers I've used and can recommend
